Screens

They sat in front of their screens and grew lonely, but not lonely enough to turn their heads. The screens were captivating, more colorful then reality on a cloudy day and one didn’t know if the sun was out.  The screens told a story that left something to be desired, the best stories had already been told and the producers had found it was better to invest their money in bright colors.  Anyway they had found that the stories the screens told didn’t really matter as long as people noticed they were slightly brighter then their own. In a strange way the stories flirted with hope, not to offer it(a person with hope usually looks up), but to keep people from noticing it’s obvious absence.

       In order to afford the brightest colors discount versions of love and truth were used.  The producers still hadn’t figured out how to avoid them all together, even those who had been dedicated to their screens for years still hadn’t overcome their early desires the good news was that truth was needed less and less and there seemed to be a cheaper form of “love” available nearly everyday. 

        The hope of the producers was that if they could convince people that the stories the screens told were more exciting then their own lives sooner or later the illusion would have to become true.  If this was done long enough it wouldn’t really matter what story they told because there screens would always be less revealing then a mirror.
